Core Values

Creeds, catechisms, confessions, and core values have long been recognized as statements that unify the church around central pillars and beliefs. The BIC has articulated its Core Values with that same hope. Our hope is that these ten statements provide a guiding light to all who find inspiration in our movement. If you spend some time with us, you will see these core values lived out in a variety of expressions. The core values are an essential part of our training and development programs and our New Pastors Orientation experience.

A printable handout can be downloaded for use in your local BIC church. You can use this handout in a congregational setting, whether it is for new attendees, members or preaching through a sermon series on the Core Values.

A new book, Compelling Convictions: Finding Our Future In A Modern World, is now available on Amazon. The book revisits the Core Values and replaces the original Focusing Our Faith 1999 edition. Compelling Convictions includes global voices who reflect on the BIC Core Values and how those values unite us together as a global BIC family.

As the editors state, “(The) essays in this book reflect BIC voices from many countries … these essays will display the universality of how these values are lived out in BIC contexts throughout the world. We will hear from BIC people around the globe sharing their experiences of how the values are expressed in their culture at this particular moment. Paying attention to the global voice allows us to hear how cultural and contextual differences positively contribute to our identity as a whole.”
